David’s Prayer 2 Samuel 7:18-29
18 Then King David went in and sat before
the Lord, and he said:“Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 19 And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign Lord, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant—and this decree, Sovereign Lord, is for a mere human![a]
20 “What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Sovereign Lord. 21 For the sake of your word and according to your will, you have done this great thing and made it known to your servant.
22 “How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. 23 And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations and their gods from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?[b] 24 You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God.
25 “And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised, 26 so that your name will be great forever. Then people will say, ‘The Lord Almighty is God over Israel!’ And the house of your servant David will be established in your sight.
27 “Lord Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to your servant, saying, ‘I will build a house for you.’ So your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you. 28 Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. 29 Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.”

one ox for yourselves and prepare it first for you are many, and call on the
name of your god, but put no fire under it." 26Then they took the ox which

Solomon’s
Prayer of Dedication in the bible
22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the whole
assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven 23 and said:
10.
“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like
you in heaven above or on earth below—you who keep your covenant of love with
your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. 24 You have kept your
promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and
with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
11.
25 “Now Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your
servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall
never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if
only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me faithfully
as you have done.’ 26 And now, God of Israel, let your word that you promised
your servant David my father come true. 27 “But will God really dwell on earth?
The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this
temple I have built! 28 Yet give attention to your servant’s prayer and his
plea for mercy, Lord my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is
praying in your presence this day. 29 May your eyes be open toward this temple
night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that
you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 30 Hear the
supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward
this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.
12.
13.
31 “When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is
required to take an oath and they come and swear the oath before your altar in
this temple, 32 then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, condemning
the guilty by bringing down on their heads what they have done, and vindicating
the innocent by treating them in accordance with their innocence.
14.
33 “When your people Israel have been defeated
by an enemy because they have sinned against you, and when they turn back to
you and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication to you in
this temple, 34 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel
and bring them back to the land you gave to their ancestors.
